Chicago, Indianapolis and Cleveland Residents Experience a ‘Taste’ of Pure Michigan Summer
LANSING, Mich. – Pure Michigan is celebrating the first day of summer with scoops of ice cream and an invitation to residents in Chicago, Indianapolis and Cleveland to experience the best the season has to offer in the Great Lakes State.
As a part of its Long Live Summer campaign, Pure Michigan has teamed up with Metro-Detroit-based Treat Dreams to develop three limited edition ice cream flavors inspired by essential summer activities in Michigan – fishing, biking and beach time - exposing people’s senses to the ‘flavors of the fun’ available in Pure Michigan this season.
“Ice cream is a quintessential summer treat and a great way to introduce the story of summer in Michigan,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “By exposing potential travelers in key markets to Pure Michigan in this unique way, we hope to inspire summer travel planning and encourage people to explore our state from top to bottom and coast to coast.”
Ice cream carts stocked with the three flavors will be hitting 875 N. Michigan Avenue (formerly known as the Hancock Center) in Chicago, Soldiers & Sailors Monument and White River State Park in Indianapolis and Public Square in Cleveland today. Pure Michigan will also be handing out the Pure Michigan Summer Travel Guide to inspire trip planning. People will be encouraged to share their Pure Michigan summer bucket list and vacation memories using the #LongLiveSummer as “payment” for their ice cream.
Michigan ranks fifth in the nation for ice cream production and produces 1.2 billion gallons of milk annually. Residents and visitors to Metro Detroit will be able to try the three unique flavors at the Treat Dreams stores in Ferndale and Midtown in Detroit June 22 through July 8, 2018.
