Where ships traveling the coastline used to find protection to ride out storms, but destroyed in the 1908 Metz Fire. The landing was named after Frederick Burnham who settled in Michigan in the 1840's and developed a business selling cord wood to the early steamers. He was also the first postmaster. This is part of the Sweetwater Trail.
