Garey Lake Trail Camp
Contact
This charming trail camp offers group camping in the middle of what was once an apple orchard. The camp was designed for use by equestrian campers riding the Shore-to-Shore Trail. The area can accommodate tents and trailers and has a maximum capacity of 200. Amenities include vault toilets and a submersible pump that requires a 5,000-watt generator.
Shore-to-Shore Trail
The state forest campground is a stop along the Shore-to-Shore Trail, a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding, that stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails. The Michigan Trail Riders Association assists with maintenance of the trail. Equestrian trail rider groups planning a ride may need to acquire a permit. If the event will utilize multiple campgrounds, please contact the Cadillac Operations Service Center at 231-775-9727 x. 6006. If the event will only utilize one campground, please contact this facility at 231-276-9511. Visit the MTRA website to view maps or call 989-723-1425 for more information.
Located 8 miles southeast of Empire via M-72, Plowman Road and Pettengill Road.
