Garey Lake Trail Camp
This charming rustic campground that was once an apple orchard sits on the shores of beautiful Garey Lake. It has 12 rustic campsites and amenities include vault toilets, potable water from a well-hand pump and a boating access site. The campground is open to equestrian use. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
Visitors can enjoy pan fishing on Garey Lake or exploring one of the nearby trail systems. The campground has direct access to the Shore-to-Shore Trail and is located in close proximity of the Lake Ann Pathway. There is also a group campground, Garey Lake Trail Camp, nearby.
The state forest campground is a stop along the Shore-to-Shore Trail, a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding, that stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails. The Michigan Trail Riders Association assists with maintenance of the trail. Equestrian trail rider groups planning a ride may need to acquire a permit.
