If there is a hotspot for lunch in Hamtramck, Maine Street is it. It is not the easiest thing to get right away seating during the week between noon and one at Maine Street. City officials, cops, various other workers, kids playing hooky (sometimes), are all there, eating kabobs, burgers, and pita sandwiches. Maine Street is part diner, part restaurant, and part Coney Island, and all with a full bar. Yep, you can grab a beer, a gyro, and onion breath all for less than ten bucks. They are fast, inexpensive, and tasty. Try the Chevapi; they do a good job with it. And they better, it's owned and operated by a Bosnian family, and that's one of their cultures specialties.
