Built in the 1888, the Manistee fire station is the oldest continuously operated fire station in the state of Michigan. The two-story, pressed-brick and cut-stone structure is flanked by a a two and one half story copper domed tower. The unique structure is a cross-gabled Romanesque Revival style building and has not undergone any alterations in usage or design since it was built. The station is open to visitors daily except during mealtime and emergencies.
