Pewtersmith, Rebecca Hungerford has recently moved her open studio into the Box Factory in St. Joseph. For over 30 years she has created functional and decorative pieces of heavy guage,"fine" (unleaded) pewter from concept to finished product. Her work is enthusiastically collected and has won awards nationally and abroad. Her traditional items are made for generations of use and a complete catalog of that line is available by mail or on her website. Rebecca's contemporary work is an artistic departure which incorporates additional materials such as wood, pearls, glass and fiber. Surfaces are decorated by acid-etching, hand coloring and engraving. This everchanging body of work has been included in the nation's premier shows such as the Smithsonian Craft Show, the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, St. Louis Art Fair, the Plaza Art Fair and Cherry Creek Arts Festival. In St. Joseph, she has participated in the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff and won Best of Metals 2006. Recent commissions include ecclesiastical vessels, funerary urns and home decor. Rebecca welcomes visitors to her work and display area at the Box Factory (which holds studios for over 30 other working artists).
