Acclaimed pianist Kuang-Hao Huang invites audiences on an expressive musical journey spanning over a century of piano repertoire, from the lyrical Americana of Aaron Copland’s In Evening Air to the jazz-infused charm of George Gershwin’s Prelude “Novelette in Fourths.” Contemporary works by Stacy Garrop and Michael Tilson Thomas offer vivid moments of reflection, color, and wit before the program transitions into the lush romanticism of Sergei Rachmaninoff.
The evening’s second half culminates in a dramatic and thrilling performance of selections from Sergei Prokofiev’s Ten Pieces from Romeo and Juliet, Op. 75—bringing Shakespeare’s timeless story of love, conflict, and passion to life through virtuosic piano writing.
Hailed for his “poetic sensitivity and commanding virtuosity,” pianist Kuang-Hao Huang has earned recognition as both a dynamic soloist and collaborative artist. Huang has performed internationally across the United States, Europe, and Asia, captivating audiences with performances noted for their technical brilliance, expressive nuance, and artistic depth. Mr. Huang serves on the faculties of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and Concordia University-Chicago.
