Description

The 5th Annual Idlewild Education, Empowerment and Music Festival weekend will include presenters who will discuss the historic impact of Idlewild, Michigan. Back by Popular Demand is our special guest, Idlewild's original Fiesta Doll Dancer, Ms. Carlean Gill; returning to Idlewild from Texas. Additionally, we will host poetry, additional guest speakers and live music presentations as a catalyst to help educate and engage youth and adults in the rich history and impact of Historic Idlewilds’ culture. This year's weekend will feature live musical tributes to the late Aretha Franklin, and poetry readings as a tribute to another former Idlewild visitor, Langston Hughes. We will host musicians and poets of all ages for our tributes.

We will continue to host vendors for shopping, food and guided tours of the Historic sites in Idlewild. Newly added attraction this year is a tour of the Jim Crow Museum on the campus of Ferris State University. This weekend event is produced and presented by T. ROSE Entertainment/Foundation.
