The Whitney Garden Party featuring Olivia Van Goor Quartet

The Whitney is pleased to announce the return of its popular Garden Parties for the summer season, along with the debut of a new Sunday afternoon event series featuring themed dining experiences and live music.
A long-standing warm-weather tradition in Detroit, the Whitney Garden Parties invite guests to enjoy an evening of live entertainment in a historic outdoor setting. This year’s series promises an expanded lineup and a fresh addition of Sunday programming designed to enhance the summer experience.

Olivia Van Goor is a Detroit-based jazz vocalist recognized for her rich tone, stylistic fluency, and modern approach to classic repertoire. A two-time 2025 winner at the Michigan Music Awards for Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz Single/Performance, she continues to establish herself as a leading voice in the Midwest jazz scene. Olivia performs in settings ranging from intimate duos to full big band collaborations and appears regularly throughout Michigan and neighboring states. She returned as a featured guest vocalist with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra for consecutive Holiday Pops seasons in 2024 and 2025.
She has been honored with the Preservation of Jazz Excellence Award for Best Vocalist and has received multiple nominations from the Detroit Music Awards. A frequent collaborator with pianist Scott Gwinnell, bassist Paul Keller, and JUNO Award-winning vocalist Caity Gyorgy, Olivia continues to shape her artistic voice through performance, composition, and production—contributing to the evolving landscape of contemporary jazz.
