Designed in 1933 by Alden B. Dow as his architectural studio and private residence, the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio, a National Historic Landmark, is inspired by nature, the melding of color, textures, form, and light.
The Home and Studio personifies Mr. Dow's idea that gardens never end and buildings never begin, integrating the best elements of nature with the remarkable visions of man-made ingenuity.
Public tours for those ages 8+ are available February through December, Tuesday - Saturday at 2 PM, with an additional tour at 11 AM on Friday and Saturday. Private tours and Bus Group tours also available.
The Home and Studio provides fully funded educational programming for students in grades 4-12 during the school year, and offers engaging summer camps for 4th-6th grade with a focus on architecture and for 9th-12th grade centered in design.
Adult Camps, for those 16+, are presented twice yearly, with the earlier two-day session concentrating on research, and the latter session combining design and exploration experiences. All camps happen in and around this mid-century architectural masterpiece.
