LANSING – For those looking to plan their warm weather travel plans in Michigan, the 2014 Pure Michigan Official State Travel Guide is now available at michigan.org. The free, spring/summer travel guide is a top trip-planning resource and offers a preview of the diverse travel destinations and activities available throughout the state. The 112-page, full color publication will also be offered in a free, universally accessible digital edition, which will allow users to access the guide from their desktop and laptop computers, as well as smartphones and tablets. The digital version also offers interactive features, including videos, photographic slideshows and a real-time feed of the latest daily travel stories from the Pure Michigan blog.
“From first time visitors to longtime fans, this travel guide is full of content to inform and inspire trips throughout Michigan,” said George Zimmermann, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “The print copy features spectacular photographs and interesting features, and the convenient digital edition offers a wealth of information available at your fingertips.”
One million copies of the Pure Michigan Official State Travel Guide will be distributed throughout the year, including 650,000 distributed with the March/April issue of Midwest Living. Following last year’s success with the fall and winter travel guides, the spring/summer guide will focus on warm weather activities. Travel Michigan will again publish separate fall and winter Pure Michigan Travel Guides, with 100,000 copies of each publication to be printed.
Individuals can request a copy of the 2014 Pure Michigan Travel Guide at michigan.org or by calling toll-free at (888) 784-7328. The guide will also be available at the 14 Michigan Welcome Centers across the state.
The travel guide highlights interesting sights to see, places to go and activities to participate in during the warm weather months in Michigan. Featured again this year are Michigan Moments – a collection of fun and exciting things to see and do across Michigan. Carla White’s winning Pure Michigan Moment photo of the sunset over Lake Superior in Christmas, Mich. can be found on page 19 in the Michigan Moments section.
The guide also showcases Michigan as a destination for all types of travelers. The Kids Rule feature offers many suggestions for family-friendly activities from riding a camel to zip lining over a creek, while Summer Camp explores the outdoors at Michigan’s state and national parks. Whatever you love, indulge your interest with visits to the trio of popular destinations: Detroit, Traverse City and Mackinac Island, detailed in Passion Points. Tee Time is a must-read for golf lovers.
Other stories – including Strutting into Spring, Where Chefs Dine, and Budding Artists – highlight the wide variety of activities and events Michigan has to offer. For those seeking an adventure on the northeast side of the state, Anchors Away exposes Lake Huron’s maritime history including tragic shipwrecks and haunted lighthouses, while Chasing Waterfalls dives into more than 200 falls in the western Upper Peninsula.
The publication also includes a guide to Michigan state parks and campgrounds, an events calendar, and a listing of convention and visitor bureaus and regional tourism associations.
The Pure Michigan Travel Guide was printed at Quad Graphics in Midland, Michigan.
