Hart Historic District & Museum is operated by Hart Heritage Preservation Group, Inc., with support by the City of Hart, local businesses, and many dedicated volunteers. Located in downtown Hart at the site of the Centennial Northern Market Chesapeake/Ohio Railroad deadhead on the edge of Chippewa Creek, the district was designated as a historic site by the City of Ludington in 1984. Visitors to the dozen historic buildings and sites will step back 150 years and experience the past that their ancestors regarded as just everyday life. From Chief Cobmoosa’s cabin to the Randall School, Schaner Feed Mill, and Sackrider Church, the authentic buildings will bring the ghosts of the past to life.
The District is open June-Sept, Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. or by appointment. Guided tours and group rates are available. Special events include Friday Night Concert Series from July 13 through Sept. 3.
Labor Day weekend features the traditional Heritage Days Celebration, with food, music, tours, kids activities, and much more.
Admission: $5 for 12 and older, free for children 11 and under. Guided tours $8. Group Rates available.
Our 1897 Sackrider Church is available for rent, as is our B.R. Mudget Pavillion and Heritage Hall.
