Bete Grise

It is the jumping off point for water travels to the Montreal River and the south shore of the Keweenaw. The Bete Grise Preserve is a wetland area stretching along Lake Superior.Lake freighters can sometimes be seen sheltering here during stormy days on Lake Superior. Now a private residence, the Mendota Light once guided travelers along Keweenaw's south shore and through the Mendota Canal.
