Discover Clay Township - Harsens Island

Clay encompasses hundreds of out islands teeming with game species, song bird and aquatic wildlife and includes charming Harsens Island which is roughly 24 square miles of which most is a state owned nature preserve, accessible by car ferry. The island is surrounded by over 2,100 acres of the largest freshwater delta in the Great Lakes Basin and is one of the largest in the world! Visitors can explore with a customized digital map

The Krispin Water Trail goes through the island and is a relaxing and easy paddle for beginners. On a clear day, you can see the Detroit skyline and the South Channel Lights offshore.

To view the ships, take a car ferry to the island's southeast side to an area called Sans Souci. There is a small waterfront park across from Jane's San Souci Market that is a perfect spot to watch.
