The spookiest time of year is once again upon us and Tibbits wants you to celebrate an early Halloween with them on October 24 at this year’s Monster Fest. The evening starts at 8:00pm with a live musical performance from Kalamazoo-based minimalist synth punk band Spatter Pattern. The evening continues at 8:30pm with Oscar-winning Director Peter Jackson’s 1996 film, The Frighteners, starring Michael J. Fox. This supernatural comedic horror film follows Frank Bannister, a man who loses his wife in a car accident. Soon after, he discovers he can communicate with the dead and uses the gift to con people. However, when a demonic spirit appears, Frank may be the only one who can stop it from killing the living and the dead. The Frighteners is rated R for terror and moderate violence/gore.
Additionally, Michigan horror author and Delta College professor J.C. Vande Zande will be in the Tibbits Art Gallery for a book signing. Vande Zande recently published the final book in his Orphan Island Trilogy, which follows a family’s fight against both literal monsters and internal demons across Northern Michigan. All three books of the trilogy will be available for purchase at Monster Fest.
Doors and seating will open one hour prior to showtime. Concessions, including alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase. No outside food or drink allowed in the theatre.
