Natural Connections: The sculptural works of ceramicist Robyn Smith

Join us Friday evening for Natural Connections, the new creative sculptural works by Grand Rapids ceramicist Robyn Smith.
Exciting new work will be presented at the opening so be sure to mark your calendars! Meet the artist and take in her new sculptures during our First Friday opening of her first solo show at Cocoon Art Space!

Robyn’s work with stoneware clay explores her, and our, connection to the natural world through rich visual storytelling. Deeply inspired by the animal world, she seeks to portray its beauty in forms that are both expressive and contemplative with an underlying narrative. Using traditional handbuilding techniques—including pinch, coil, and slab construction—Robyn shapes each piece with intention. Through each meticulously sculpted form, she reflects on her own journey shaped by her bond with nature, while inviting others to look inward and consider their own relationship with the natural world that surrounds us.
