Description
The Bill Nicholls Trail wanders for 41 miles from Mass City to Houghton through the Copper Country in the Upper Peninsula. Visitors have the opportunity to see wildlife and remnants of the old copper mining that filled the area in the 1800s. The trail follows the route of the Copper Range Railroad, making it a perfect pathway for history-lovers. The pathway is relatively moderate in difficulty, as it passes through pine and hardwood forests and near the Twin Lakes State Park. It should be noted that while hiking, horseback riding, biking, and cross-country skiing are permitted on all areas of the pathway, there are sections of the pathway that also allow for motorized vehicles (ATVs & Snowmobiles).
