Getting there is better here. The Gerald R. Ford International Airport is located near I-96 and M-6, only a short distance from US-131, just 20 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids. Short-term, long-term surface, long-term close-in covered, economy, and valet parking are all available. A roadway canopy and elevated pedestrian walkways provide protection from the elements when arriving and departing. There is also a convenient cell phone waiting lot for meeters and greeters near the airport entrance.
While you’re waiting, enjoy a Starbucks coffee, or grab a bite to eat. The younger kids can take advantage of the Kids Port located off the Grand Hall. Air service is provided by Allegiant Airline, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines. Passengers can choose from nonstop flights to 31 major market destinations and can connect to virtually anywhere in the world with just one stop.
Taxi cost is about $38 to downtown and is available in the commercial lane. Several area hotels offer shuttle service. Rental cars are offered by Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz/Dollar, and National/Alamo. Many hotels, motels, shopping malls and restaurants are located close by.
