Hackley Park, a National Historic Designated Park, occupies a city block in downtown Muskegon, bounded by Webster, Clay, Third, and Fourth Streets. Established in 1890 by Charles H. Hackley, it honors Civil War veterans with an eighty-foot soldier’s monument at its center and statues of Farragut, Sherman, Grant, and Lincoln at its corners. This 2.3-acre park offers a visual and physical respite from the urban environment, hosting ceremonies, rallies, concerts, the Lakeshore Art Festival, and Parties in the Park during summer. It is beautifully decorated for the holiday season, featuring a tree lighting ceremony. Close to museums, shopping, dining, and the Hackley Public Library, Hackley Park is a welcoming glimpse into Muskegon's cultural heart.
