This lovingly renovated old church building is one of the communities Crown Jewels, not just from historical aspects, but because of the quality of it's varied exhibits showcasing memories and events of the villages current and former residents, both of which include summer and year round residents.
Most of the museum artifacts were donated by people who have a direct connection to the community, some going back to the founding of the Village. The beautiful thing about the museum is the displays are of interest to both out of town visitors and residents. One can connect to Pentwater history through, old yearbooks, local publications, post cards and photographs and many useful artifacts dating back to the middle 19th century and well into 20th century.
Themes of the Museum are based on the early years of commerce brought about because of Pentwater's natural harbor, the need for lumber logged from areas forests, shipping of that lumber, the public school system, local military history, local business's, drug stores and medical history, local Native American heritage, founding father, Charles Mears & the State Park bearing his name.
There is no cost to visit the Museum & is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, seasonally. Please come & visit the wonderful addition to our lake shore village & learn about it's history.
