Pinckney Recreation Area's equestrian trails, located southwest of the village of Pinckney, include 13 miles of looped trails (moderately hilly and not too rocky) that traverse captivating marsh and wooded areas. Several trails traverse glacial ridges along the north side of Monks Road offering breathtaking views. The intersections are numbered.
Amenities include a vault toilet, a hand-pump water source, pavilion, mounting block, picket posts, large grill and picnic tables.
Riders can trailer horses to a staging area located at 3683 Monks Road or arrange a trail ride through a privately run stable, including Heavenly Horse Stables or Horse N' Around Stables.
Along the northern edge of the trail system, riders can connect to the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail State Park, allowing riders to extend their ride into the communities of Pinckney, Gregory, Stockbridge and Jackson. Along the southern edge of the park, you can ride through a gorgeous white and red pine forest near the town of Hell, Michigan.
