This 22 mile long trail passes through wooded areas and rolling farmland wile winding through several Michigan towns. It is one of five linear state parks in the state park system that have been converted from abandoned railroad corridors The Lakelands trail is a multiple use trail suitable for biking, walking, running and equestrian use. The paved section of trail lies between the Village of Pinckney and extends East through Hamburg township and is the best pick for a bicycle trip. Equestrian use is popular from the section between Pinckney and Stockbridge as the trail is not paved and the surface consists of compacted limestone and crushed slag. Additionally, the Lakelands trail connects directly to the Pinckney Recreation Area equestrian trails on this section and provides an additional 13 miles of riding. Motorized vehicles and hunting are prohibited.
