The leaves are changing, Friday nights are for football and warm pumpkin spice lattes have replaced refreshing lemonade; fall is in the air. We now say goodbye to the hot days of a Michigan summer and welcome the cool flurry of fall.

To celebrate the changing of the seasons, we’ve gathered the best places to catch fall colors in the area. Witness the beautiful fall foliage however you’d like; by foot, water or wheels. Explore the Central Michigan area your way!

By foot….

Hike, skip, or stroll through the area’s parks, preserves, and college campus to experience fall in Central Michigan.

By Water….

Paddle your way through the winding Chippewa River; rent canoes and kayaks at Buckley’s Mountainside Canoes, and Chippewa River Outfitters.

By wheels…

Drive through the ‘tunnel of trees’ near Mission Creek Woodland Park, grab friends for a day on the greens, take an afternoon driving north on  Mission Road or bike through eight miles of trails at Deerfield Nature Park to see every shade of fall by wheel.
