It’s the biggest summer celebration hosted by The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History (known locally as The Wright). Now in its 40th year, this joyful festival honors the strength and spirit of the African Diaspora through performance – and more than 25,000 attendees gather in Hart Plaza each year to soak up three days of festivities.

Make your way from the Main Stage starring Parliament-Funkadelic featuring George Clinton to The Pyramid Stage where spoken word artist jessica Care moore will host headliners Drey Skonie & The Klouds Band, singer-songwriter Somi and other soulful voices. Performer Paige Hernandez will entertain with her one-woman extravaganza, “Havana Hop,” a children’s tale that spans three generations of powerful women.

Over the course of the event, global perspectives showcase the beauty of the African Diaspora – including West African to Afro-Cuban dance workshops, gospel and jazz tributes, and hip-hop beats by the waterfront. From youth musicians to ancestral tributes, every event honors the past, praises the present and looks toward a promising future together. Browse among more than 100 vendors featuring global cuisine, original art, artisan jewelry and other handmade goods.
