Michigan History Museum
702 W. Kalamazoo Street,
Lansing, MI 48915
Description

See museum hours and admission.

Dive into the extraordinary story of northern Michigan's Au Sable River! Our new special exhibit takes you on a journey to explore how the famed river:

  • influenced people around the world
  • provided renewal, inspiration and livelihoods
  • helped to guide the fields of fish management and river protection

The River that Changed the World includes a real 24-foot-long riverboat, the custom rail car known as the Wolverine Fish Car and a reconstruction of the Wanigas Rod Shop. Bring your friends and family. The River that Changed the World will be open through mid 2018, but our grand opening activities are one day only!

  • take a virtual ride down the Au Sable River
  • practice tying a fishing fly
  • enjoy expert demonstrations
  • fish for prizes
