Operated by the Van Buren County Historical Society, this museum is housed in the historic 1884 county poorhouse. This building is on the state historic register. There are three floors of historical items, including a one-room school, a general store, housing period products and the music room highlights musical memorabilia. Other rooms include an old-fashioned kitchen, turn of the century parlor, old dentist office and military room. A replica of a log cabin and a blacksmith works are also on the grounds. We also have a local archives that is open June-Sept. on Wednesdays, Friday and Sunday from 12:00pm to 5 pm or by appointment. A fee is charged for the archives.
